To God Be The Glory!

Message from Jack:
We visisted Jack at St. Jude's today. When we arrived, he was sitting in his wheelchair entertaining a group of his friends. We asked him what he wanted to say to everyone reading the blog, and he stated,"I thank everyone for all their love, support and prayers. I want to glorify the Lord through this situation more than anything else." We assured him he is doing just that!
Family report:
Karen also wants to thank everyone for their support, prayers and encouragement. She stated, "I just don't know how to express all my of thankfulness and gratitude to everyone!"
Overall update:
  • Jack is laughing and telling jokes.
  • He is craving hot dogs and hamburgers!
  • He said that St. Jude's is a great place but he can't wait to get home!
  • He is working very hard during speech therapy, and he was working on yelling today.
  • Jack is constantly encouraging others around him at the hospital who are visiting loved ones.
We are all blessed to have Jack and the Hawkins family as friends. Continue to keep them in your prayers! God is healing him in miraculous ways!

Let me begin by stating if Oran posted his update at 8:36 PM as is recorded, his lovely bride, who did the driving, flew home in record time. We left the parking lot before they did, took a quicker way home...including fast trak...and arrived safely at 8:50. Next thing we'll see is Laura on the NASCAR circuit. Way to go Laura!!! Was that you who blew past us doin' 95 in the City of Riverside's fire vehicle? Sherri and I thought you looked familiar.

Jack, it was certainly great to see you in such good spirits last night. I was especially humored by the way you took command of the conversation and told those loud laughing ladies to pipe down. I mean, gosh, we could hardly hear ourselves! Good for you to tell them who's boss, but for a man in a wheelchair it was pretty risky move, no?

The real Jason Davis says "Hi."

Please know we continue to pray for you and your family. We remain very proud of you and encouraged by your exceptional progress since your stroke 6 weeks ago. And Sherri and I look forward to seeing you up and about in no time bringing smiles to those around you and serving our Lord with the opportunities He provides you. May you continue to remain faithful to Him as He guides you through the days ahead.

Much love from our entire family,

Richard and Sherri Hawkins

Jack,

We are so greatly encouraged by your astounding progress. The tales of the return of your unique sense of humor have all of us anxious for your return to the office, if only for the selfish purpose of enjoying the laughter that you bring to our work days.

My father really enjoyed the visit with you on Sat night. He was pleasantly surprised to find you largely returned to the same ol' Jack. I look forward to the day I can make a similar discovery; I hope to see you soon.

As far as things here at the office, we are bravely plowing forward (can one plow forward? i'm not a farmer) to acheive the visions that you have established for the companies. We were as saddened as you, I'm sure, to learn of the unfortunate news that the individual responsible for helping you cast the vision (Kumar) was recently indicted in Colorado for the illegal underground dogfighting ring that he & Alex had established some years ago. I realize everyone needs an outlet, but we felt the whole dogfighting thing was a bit excessive. We look forward to helping our good friend thru these difficult legal times.

Everything else is continuing seemingly as you left it: Roger is still pushing towards the world record for the number of cabinets installed in a single office complex, while Martin follows right behind him to paint everything in sight. We have taken the liberty of adding Roger & Martin to the Board of Directors.

Some more good news, we've hired 2 new Project Engineers, bringing the total to 106 Project Engineers on staff. Roger is designing double-decker cabinets that double as work stations, as we seem to be running out of office space.

Jane & Sarah have become so efficient at their jobs that they were able to cut their work hours back to 10am to Noon, 3 days a week, while still meeting every deadline and fulfilling every obligation. They are truly a testament to your vision to become more efficient.

We also received some good news from the new Palm Desert office this week, as apparently Wayne's handicap is down to 9.

The estimating department has really made great strides in recent months, with nearly half of their employees able to keep their shoes on until near midday.

And the superintendents have really been a source or strength for all of us. While some would say that the fact that their median age is 76 is an obstacle to overcome in the years to come, we have found that this could not be further from the truth - as their experience and maturity have really aided the rest of us in coping with these difficult times.

As far as things over here at ICC, this concrete stuff is really beginning to interfere with our fish tank. Diffenbaugh and our other clients keep bombarding us with projects, which limits our time gazing at and caring for our fish tank down to 4 hours per day. We're hopeful that the coming weeks will remove these unwelcome pressures.

The ICC field workforce, in a stunning show of solidarity, have offered to show their support for you and the company by working as much overtime as possible in order to display their dedication. We're proud to have so many selfless employees.

Keep up the good work, Jack, and we hope to see you soon.

Hey! Mitch it's called a blog not a book.
It was that soccer player!!! not Kumar!! and it was in Texas!! You need to get your story strait.

Most of that is true, the fish tank is looking little dirty.

Nevertheless, have you seen the sinks?

We all miss you Jack, we have no sinks to wash are hands.

P.S. If anybody visits you from the office ask them if they have washed there hands before you shake there hand. If you know what I mean.

thnak you

Jack & Heather,

So I met a new swim parent Tuesday night at a swim team banquet and his name was Norbitt. I couldn't help but laugh and then got to wondering, have you seen that movie? I bet you do a great impression of Norbitt right now, eh? Haha, hope all continues to go well!

SKIP!!!!! All I can say is "WOW"! You have improved so much! Well, to tell you the truth, it's no suprise that you are doing so well in rehab. Honestly, to this day, I walk by your old room and feel the difference from you and your incredible family not being there. It's just not the same without all those beautiful flowers and posters/pictures decorating the walls. Not that I want you to come back (well I do, but only to visit), but it does feel different since you've been gone. I'm so glad that you are well on your way to a MIRACULOUS recovery. Keep up the good work and may your faith give you strength to make it home. Tell the fam I said "hello".

Jack,
Here we go again. Tonight at a dinner in Long Beach for an AGC mixer someone in the group heard that someone in your office was present. Boy that sure ended my social evening as I spent the next two hours talking about you and your progress. All present were not surprised to hear how far you have come and no one was wondering weather your would return but as to when you would be back in the helm of things. I gave you a six month window but if you need a little longer let me know. You know if I keep going to these dinners and talking about you I'm going to write off the cost as a business expense........Love to you and Karen along with HKM - See you soon.

Hi Jack!
I just found out about your blog site from Shannon! Only a few weeks away from us at USC and you're walking!! That is awesome. I knew you would make it to that point. I can't wait for you to walk in to visit us in the PT dept. You were a great patient to work with. Your motivation and positive attitude was an inspiration to our entire staff. I'm glad to hear you are doing so well. Keep up the good work.

Jack
I wanted to let you know that the makeup party tomorrow night won't be the same without you and Matt. We'll all be thinking about you and how fun that first party was when you stopped by. All my non-Diffenbaugh friends thought it was pretty amazing that the "Boss" stopped by my house for something like that - I tell them all the time what a great person you are and they got to see for themselves that night first hand. I hope you have been able to get some rest and will keep bugging Judy for updates. Love to you, Karen and HKM.
