Rehab Update 7/31/07

Rehab

Jack keeps progressing with his workouts. The exercises are becoming more difficult and demanding both mentally and physically as he keeps pushing himself to full recovery.

Doctor's Report

It is difficult to be sooooo popular! We all want to visit Jack and enjoy how much he has improved from week to week. But the Doctor's are concerned that we are visiting Jack so much that it is starting to reduce his energy for his rehab. We all want to see Jack released from the hospital as soon as possible so the Doctor's have recommended the following:

  • Limit our visits 5 to 10 minutes (maximum)

  • Visit only between 5:00 to 8:00 pm

  • Limit how many people visit at a time

We will keep you posted when Jack is at full strength. During this time when our visitation times are limited, the best way to communicate with Jack is to write a note in this blog. He checks all of our blogs daily and this is the best way to encourage and support him. He loves to read all of your encouraging words and jokes, so keep 'em coming.

St. Judes has been fantastic so let's try to abide by these simple guidelines so we can see Jack recover sooner and have his full strength for rehab!!!

Family Report

Katie had her appendix removed this past Monday morning. She had the surgery and is recovering at St. Judes, also. Who would have ever thought they would both be in the same hospital at the same time??? She is doing well and should have a speedy recovery.

Karen is fighting a cold. She continues to be with Jack and needs our prayers for strength.

Jack continues to want everyone to know how thankful he is to God for healing him and to all of his friends for their continued support and prayers!

Hi Jack, I was able to get Lisa to show me how this blogger works.
I check on your status almost everyday and was not surprised to see how well you are doing. I am sure there will be some difficult days, but count to ten and keep on going, you'll be fully recovered before you know it. I hope to be by on Sunday with my wife to spend a few minutes with you. Blue Skies and God Bless Frank/Julia Venegas

Hello Jack,
Well I made it back from Mexico and was very pleased to hear about your progress. I am thankful that Katie is doing well also, what a shock that was.

I had a great vacation in spite of worrying about everything here. But there was no need to worry everything was waiting for me when I returned. Just like your work, you should see the piles. You can't even see your desk anymore. I'll have to box it up and ship it to St. Jude for you. Just kidding!!!!

They liked my leopard print suitcase so much in Mexico they decided to keep it. But the 10 people I talked to at Delta were very encouraging, they said if I am patient and with enough time they should be able to talk them into returning it. The good news: Jane is having a makeup party tonight and I should be able to replace alot of the stuff cheap. Yea!!! We will miss you!

I pray for you and your whole family daily. I can't wait for you to return to work, you are so missed at the office.

Judy

Hi Jack,
Sounds like you have had tons of people to visit... Wearing our selves out are we??? Well I just wanted to say "Hello" and keep up the recovery. So sorry to hear about Katie... I hope she is doing better. You just take it easy. You will be hearing from me again soon. Tell Karen "Hi" for me too. I'll keep praying for you and your family... Lots of love and support, your friend, Lori

Buenas Tardes Jack Y Familia;

It is so good to read that you are having great progress. Keep up the good work!! :) Before you know it you will be running circles around all the hospital staff. It is so good to hear that they are taking such good care of you and your family. Sorry to hear about Katie - but the hard work is done and now she just has to hang in there and recuperate.

We sure do miss seeing your smile and quick step at the office.

Bueno Jack - que se quide and regrese a la oficina pronto.

Karen - it was so good to talk to you earlier - take care of that cold and "YES" you are an amazing lady.

I wanted to stop by last weekend but Katrina had tonsils removed.

Hasta Lugeo Familia Hawkins;

Silvia

Hello Jack!

After I returned from vacation and all, my intention was to stop and see you, but it was not a good time for you... it sounds as though you've been working overtime over there. Just know that I pray for you each morning on my way to work. As I was typing this, Smitty called. When we were finishing up, he asked about you and said he thinks about you every day. He and Charlie want to stop by when you are ready for visitors again. Things at ICC are marching along ahead of any Vision hopes (Joel can tell you more). I thought I should also tell you that the flight we took to Bakersfield when you let me take the controls left me with enough confidence to open ICC Airways with me in the pilot's seat. I undertook the maiden flight on my own... just to be certain I was ready. To make a long story short (about as short as my flight!), they're moving me to St. Judes for physical therapy later in the week! I'll meet you for breakfast!

I'll sign off for now. I'm so happy you're doing well.

I sure hope to see you soon.

Rob

Hi Jack,
Praise God to hear about your continued improvement! Wow, I'm so guilty of overstaying during our visit with you . . but I still laugh and will hold that time forever in my heart and mind. I have received such continued encouragement seeing first hand how God has been so faithful in your care and in your healing. I hope you don't mind me sharing with others about how you had all of us laughing as you shared with us your praise worthy accomplishments(moving your fingers, kicking etc.). I know that those things were the small steps to your now larger victories and those still yet to conquer. Hope to see you when Vanessa visits 8/13, we'll be returning from camping on the beach. Our plan is to stop by and shake some sand in your bed so you can have a coarse reminder of getting back soon to your beach house. Also, I'll challenge you to a long distance plane flight. Warmest greatings to Karen and the family and glad to hear Katie is doing well!

All the Williams' family and extended family in CT, MN, OR and here in CA Praise God for his continued work of preserving, healing and restoring you!

Dear Cuz,
Although our visit was short it was sweet...Mom was glad to have seen you doing so well. She has all of her little old ladies praying for you, you know what that can do don't you?

AFter talking with Nene this a.m. the report is that Katie is "free" and recuperating and that you are working hard, as usual.
I'm re-reading 40 Days of Purpose and was reminded today to focus on God's plan not the problems, such simple theology but not always easy for me to do. I'm going to practice that today! Assure your sweet family of all my love and prayers.

Love, Susie

Jack,
Boy you missed a fun party last night. Ryan showed up with tons of make-up and the guest (All 37) went crazy and bought over $2200. worth of stuff. Of course we know Karen and the girls would have been there if they could so we put together a special goodie bag for them. Of course there isn't any more make-up so there won't be any more parties, but we can always plan something else perhaps a shoe party or purse party - you and Matt might find something you like in your color and size. Of course the Angel game had the party lasting way past my bedtime. Next time the parties are planned for Friday nights.

See you real soon, love to you and Karen.

Jack,

I would come down and visit you but a 5 to 10 min. visit that would be impossible for me.

I just got back from my 95-year-old grandmothers funeral. It was special; this was on my mother’s side in Washington Seattle area.

At the church, they had an open microphone a 93-year-old man came up to say some nice words about my grandmother. He started complementing on how pretty she was and that she was a full-figured women and he kept going more & more into detail. It was the talk of the day, sexy grandma.

You have not missed a lot regarding the hosing case. I have not gone to prison yet but sense I live in Chino I won’t have to change my address. I’m the talk of the neighbor hood, my daughter is looking into the National Guard they pulled up in a government van twice. My neighbors are thinking I’m getting investigated by the government, well it didn’t help my buddy (neighbor) told them I have priers and I could be a drug dealer, he has been stirring it up. You would love it.

It’s good to hear that you’re going home.

Pastor Ralph from CBU sends his prayers to you and your family.

Julio sent a very funny email out to ALL, I thought it was funny but after reading his, I’m sorry for sending the email. I take it that some did not. That’s okay Julio, you can send another one in 10 years.

P.S. We found the sinks; we can all stop washing our hands in the toilet.

You’re always in our prayers

Thank you
Dennis & family

Good morning. Hope you day yesterday wasn't to demanding, but whatever it was I'm sure you gave it 110%. Just wanted you to know that some of us girls at the office will be going to Marissa's baby shower this afternoon. It should be alot of fun. If you haven't seen Elise lately you will be surprised when you do she is as tall as her mom and just as pretty. Hard to imagine that this is my ninth year with the company and I've gotten to see all these kids grow up and beyound. I guess one day we should do a Company "Family" Tree and just see where it leads us. I guess the Alexander/Whitaker families truly still show us that we are a family business just operating in a Corp world. Have a good weekend, miss you.

Jack it was so good to see you this weekend. The transformation in the 4 weeks since we last saw you is remarkable. God is obviously prepping you for a different path in life and needs you 100% to continue His work. You're an inspiration to us all to see what the power or prayer can do. Keep up the hard work and know that you and the family are still in our prayers.
Love, Melanie

So last week, I was walking from the second building to the first, and out of the corner of my eye I saw something move in the bushes. It was a baby LIZARD. So who did
I think of? YOU! I tried to catch it so I coud scare Debbie for you, but it got away. I tried.

All our love and prayers

Just a note to tell you that you remain in our prayers, our hearts and our thoughts. The "Real" Jason Davis, right arm still in a sling, continues to pass along his very best regards but his debility has limited his ability to type and express his prayerful sentiments. My beloved bride, Sherri Jo, just woke up and emerged with a strong case of morning breath, but she appears before me more beautiful than when she retired last night (it is a great thing to be married to my best friend!!!!)...and once she learned that I was typing this blog entry she chimed in with a heart felt, "Just tell them that we love them all very, very much!" We continue to pray for your record breaking rehabilitation and to see you poppin' wheelies in your chair and strummin' on the old banjo.

God bless
Richard and Sherri Hawkins

Jack,
Talked to Joel Hardin yesterday and got the news about your new challenge. It has been a while since those CBC days, but by the posts that I've read, I can tell that you have quite a network of friends that are praying for you and your family. Just want to let you know that your daily prayer network just got a little bigger, both in #'s and geography. Vickie (Roy) and I have been blessed to be relocated to Maui 6 years ago. God is working in our lives and showing how much he loves and cares for us. I just want to add to the others that are encouraging you, what a great testimony that you are working on and how Jesus is being blessed by you and your family. Jack, keep up the great work and may our God bless you and your family as only He can.

Aloha
Kirk & Vickie Hinton

Dear Jack, (I think its the same Jack). Wasn't sure after reading all the blogs. Thought I might have to deliver a halo in a volkswagen in person. Just kidding. You were a great friend. I wish Jared could have the same type of friendship you and I shared.I know what they mean by sapping your energy from visitors. I get tired just having relatives over. Its great to hear how well your doing. Hope Karen's holding up well too. Wish you were closer. Keep improving. Terry Knight PS Might join you some day in rehab. Just bought another motorcycle at 55. Commuting 33 miles each way while the weather's nice.

Hi Jack,
It is so exciting to see how God is blessing you each day. Your love for God is truly a testimony to everyone that knows you and your family.
It is also a blessing to hear that you live for God in your business environment as well.I understand you have had the opportunity to talk with Gary (GLR)a couple of times,it would be great to see him come to know the Lord. Keep up the hard work in rehab. Blessings to you, Steve Bierma

Hi Jack,
Harold and I are so glad to read each report about you and to know how well you are doing! Keep up the good work. We have wanted to come see you but I suffered a severe muscle strain and sprain to my cervical area of my back about 15 minutes after school was out on my last day of teaching for this year. So, Harold has had his hands full for a month or so taking care of me and doing all household chores and working too. I've been going to physical therapy three times every week and I'm finally much better. Hopefully we will get to come visit someday.

So, here is my joke for you.

How can you tell Ronald MacDonald in a nudist colony?
He's the only one with sesame seed buns! Ha Ha Ha.

Our best to your whole family and we hope Katie and Karen are recovering from their illnesses.

Harold and I pray for you daily and send our good wishes to you.
Love, Kay Lynn and Harold

Jack, I cant tell you how great it is to hear about how well you are doing. It just adds to my respect for you. Just to let you know that the hanger is still just the way you left it and waiting for your return. Plus you still owe me a ride and I have a real strong feeling that can still happen. I have seen your new spitfire although I think just getting in and out of it would be harder physical therepy than anyone could handle. I sure missed you at Heather and Kyles wedding. I am picking up the DVD today so you can watch the entire ceremony. The picnic was really fun you should be proud of the great job Karen did. Cant wait to see you back. You are greatly missed. Keep getting stronger !!! See you soon
Jim

Your family has meant so much to us through the years and we hurt when you hurt. We love you and pray God's comfort and perfect peace for you and your family. Janet and Bill

Just want to let you know what's going on around the office. Some of us will be going to Jocelyn's co-ed bridal shower this weekend. This should be alot of fun, I don't think were going for the Pimps and Hoes theme but something much more appropriate like Hawaiian theme, since the wedding will be taking place in her home state. Sarah is having a 17th birthday party for Jessica who says that there will only be 30 or so kids over (more likely 50 I say). Either way it should also be alot of fun. I am off next week to see my father in Arizona, with the boys who haven't seen him in over a year. It should be a nice visit. I am sure when I return I will be excited to hear of your progress and what you have done over the week. Are you still a Master Landscaper - we'll have to talk about that when I get back.
Have a wonderful day Saturday and don't push yourself to hard - Love to you, Karen and HKM.

Buenas Tardes Jack Y Familia;

Missed a couple of Spanish lessons - sorry.

I hope you take it easy on your furlough Saturday - we are rooting for you and the family. We are looking forward to your coming home soon!!

Katie I hope that you are taking it easy and recuperating well from your appendectomy.

Karen It was so good to hear that your cold went away and you are feeling better.

Have to tell you though - Jamie Murphy Chandler and I had just came back from lunch one day and as we were pulling into the parking lot we saw a white truck (just like yours) leaving the parking lot, and we honestly thought it was you. We both took a deep breath and said a quiet "wow" looked at each other, said "was that Jack?" We honestly believed you had come home.

Take Care Jack & Family and we hope to see you home soon.

Hasta Luego!!

Silvia
