Praise Report

"JACK IS BACK"

* Communication - He communicates to the family by pointing to an alphabet board. The family states that it is like a "game of charades." As they start the word, Heather, Katie or Matthew will try and guess the word or phrase and Jack gets a real big kick out of this. He will start to smile and even laugh watching them trying to figure out the words he is communicating.

Just before Jack had his stroke, he was going through the Baker's drive through and had ordered (2) tostados. Apparently, one of the communications that Jack made to Joel Alexander was: "Instead of getting a tostado, I got a stroke." Now, that is the Jack that we all know and love!!!!!!

* Movement - Jack is able to move his left arm much better and can wave and hold it in the air.

Karen,
I met you years ago at BFOR. As I
hear of the faithfulness of your friends and the outpouring of God's love on your family, it's
overwhelming, it's God's love over
flowing. Jack is truly a rich man!

Jack,
I heard the news just a few days ago, and my first thought was; my friend Jack will be smiling that charasmatic smile again in no time! Raquel and I pray for you each day. You are a true friend of mine, so rest assurred I think of you often each day.

Dear Hawkins Family,
Harold and I are so pleased to hear about Jack's good progress. We are continuing to pray for him and your whole family.
After reading about Jack's trying to use the alphabet board to communicate, it reminded be of when my mom was in the hospital two years ago. We also struggled to understand what Mom was trying to say to us since one cannot talk when they have a tracheotomy. We too used some charades. A thought occurred to me today that might help Jack to communicate. Maybe you could take him a laptop computer and he could type out a sentence or two when he is able . We tried having mom write, but she couldn't hold a pen too well.Maybe you all have already thought of this idea but if not, maybe it could work for Jack.
Please tell Jack that Harold and I are thinking about him and send our best wishes for his continued improvement.
Love, Kay Lynn Hahn

Hello Hawkins Family!

I have been thinking about you all and praying so much! I am SO glad that you are recovering well, Mr. Hawkins! I read the part about Heather, Katie and Matthew and the "game of charades" and I began to think of all the wonderful times I spent over at your house while growing up and what fun it is to be with you guys.

I love you all and am praying for you continuously.

Love,
Vanessa Williams

p.s. This blog was a wonderful idea to keep everyone updated!
